I tried to embed my animoto, but for some reason since my computer decided to crash, I cannot embed the code into my blog. I am using my iPad to see if I can use a URL so you can click on it to see it. Here is the animoto: science center animoto
A few weeks ago, our fourth graders went on a field trip to the amazing Connecticut Science Center. We teach 4 main units in science in our district. After our units on the water cycle, electricity, and magnets, we decided that a great culminating activity would be for the students to explore the science center and all that it offers, for them to demonstrate what they have learned. This field trip also would help students leant even more about these different units in science.
As far as teaching, learning, and literacy go, I tout that by creating this animoto about the trip, would allow for rudest collaborative talk about the trip and all of the different activities that they were able to take part in. After the trip, I had the students view the animoto as a whole class. After they viewed it, I had them reflect on the trip and their learning during all of these units and talk about what they learned, whether it was a continued learning skill or a new skill that they got out of the trip. The trip itself promoted both discovery and exploration, which I felt
Was important to help my students learn, and also provided hands on approaches to concepts taught to them. This hands on exploration provided them with numerous opportunities to showcase both their learning and understanding about the concepts taught.
I apologize for the craziness with my comments but for some reason the last comment was cut out, and I was not finished talking about my animoto.
Krysta, Using Animoto to put together the students experience at the CT Science Center is great! It looks like they had a lot of fun! This was also a great way to wrap up the units taught and have them explore and manipulate with materials provided for them!
